Care Partner Program

Care Partner: Including loved ones in the healing process

We understand that every person we treat is part of a larger family, community and culture. At Highline Medical Center we welcome the involvement of friends and loved ones as Care Partners. A Care Partner is someone chosen by the patient to be involved in his or her healthcare experience, staying overnight with the patient if needed. The Care Partner may be a spouse, significant other, family member or friend.

When illness or injury happens, the support of a loved one is vital. Care Partners offer the love, support and encouragement that makes a tremendous difference in the healing process.

Often, all a patient needs is the reassuring touch of a hand, an encouraging smile, or an unspoken presence. A Care Partner can participate in any or all of the following:

  • Act as a family spokesperson
  • Learn skills to provide for home care
  • Act as a patient advocate
  • Offer a warm blanket or other patient comfort measures
  • Provide emotional and spiritual support

Our staff is fully responsible for the care of the patient and appreciates the added touches that Care Partners provide.
